About

Anise Overton is a kids' TV writer and 2024 fellow of the Fred Rogers Productions Writers' Neighborhood. She's currently open to work in entry level assistant and writing support staff roles with the goal of relocating to Los Angeles.In 2022, she emerged from the probably-haunted chrysalis of Yale University to spread her wings in the TV animation industry. That Spring, she participated in a Women in Animation mentorship circle, "Hone Your Voice as an Animation Writer". She has also been a mentee of the Netflix Animation Foundations Program, in partnership with Black N Animated.
In August 2024, she returned to the USA after a year in Fukuoka, Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher on the JET Program. Since then, she's worked as a Firefly at LightBox Expo, volunteered at the Kidscreen Summit, and become a Children's Media Association mentee.
Anise loves writing silly, messy families & friend groups and ushering them through adventures that center care, inclusivity, comedy, and joy. She specializes in urban fantasy, anything that takes place in the real world with a sprinkling of magic.

"Extra, Extra!" (9-14 Supernatural Comedy Pilot)

After starting a newspaper in the hope of winning a contest, three nerdy teens uncover the supernatural secrets of their rural town and must figure out how to report on the cryptids in their community, beginning with their interview with The Lizard Man.This pilot was a semi-finalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Animation Screenplay Competition and a quarter-finalist for the ScreenCraft Animation & Family Screenplay Competition.


"Petal Attraction" (Spec- Ada Twist Scientist)

Tasked with finding – or making – the perfect flowers to decorate Lil’ Liz’s birthday party, Ada and her friends must learn how to figure out a task that’s new to them or risk letting down both her brother and his pet lizard.This spec was written for my successful application to the Fred Rogers Productions Writers' Neighborhood.

"The Major" (Spec- Primo)

Rafa ponders his college major while inadvertently insulting Mike and Mondo. An “NBA player” tricks Ryan and Rollie. Drea intercedes on Jay’s Valentine’s Day plans.
